Jewellery such as brooches, bracelets and rings adorned with stones, sometimes of gold or silver, were worn by men and women. It was a way to display the social status of the individual. A purse was a necessary accessory for a travelling poet and Guto’r Glyn composed two poems to thank his patrons for purses he received as gifts: poem 58 and poem 87.
